University Data Protection

One of the most frequently asked queries we have is that when students come to buy tickets, society memberships or vote they are told they are not a current student, or that they don't belong to their faculty etc.

The reason for this is because at some point in the registration process with the University a data protection box has been pressed which has told the University NOT to pass on personal details to the Union. This is often done unintentionally but is quite easily fixed, here is how to do it:

  1. Sign in to the University website at www.warwick.ac.uk and click on 'my.warwick'.

  2. Click my student records on the left hand side, then my student records again on that part of the screen, see screen shot below

  3. This should take you to a screen which looks like the one below. Click on 'Edit who may receive my data' on the right hand side.

  4. This should take you to the final screen below. Check the box that allows you to pass your details on to the Students' Union and then click 'Save Changes'. Your details will come to us overnight - your problem with the Students' Union website should be resolved therefore the day after you change that option.
