Welcome to the University of Warwick Northern Society. From Lancashire to Yorkshire; the Angel of the North to Blackpool Tower; from the heights of the Scottish glens to the Watford Gap, it doesn’t matter where you’re from. Everyone's north of somewhere. Therefore we would like to extend a very warm welcome to absolutely everybody in celebrating all aspects of northern culture. Our dedicated exec are passionate to ensure that you feel welcomed and safe, so don't be shy and meet some lovely, like-minded people!
Northern has at least one social a week and often two, so there's always something for everyone! Our typical socials are as follows:
Every now and then, Northern also joins socials hosted by the other Triple Crown societies (Welsh, Irish and Scottish), so always keep up to date on our Whatsapp or Instagram to see what we're up to.
Every year Northern takes part in Movember, even if not all "moustaches" could be called as such. We also have a movember pub quiz organised by our charities officer to raise money for the Movember charity. For terms 2 and 3 there are also other chairy events to raise money for other charities of the charity officer's choice. Typically these are charity circles, other pub quizes or sweep stakes.
Every year we go on our annual domestic tour to a Northern city of our Event Officer's choice. Over the past few years we have been to Liverpool, Manchester and York. The tour is typically Friday to Sunday, consisting of two nights out and exploring the city during the day. The time and location of our tour will be revealed by the end of term 1.
In term 2 all the triple crown societies get together to host a ball, where plenty of tomfoolery and hijinks unfolds between members both new and old. If you could only go to one event with Northern, go to ball.
