My role and what I hope to achieve this year:
As VP Education, I hope to improve the education experience for all students, push for accessibility within education, and ensure every student has fair opportunities at Warwick.
- Exams, assignments, and scheduling: Push for an earlier exam timetable release, ensure that students don’t have clashing/consecutive exams and assignment deadlines.
- Push for clearer assignment guidelines, and for students to receive more effective feedback on assignments.
- Accessibility: Implementation of Disability CoP (Code of Practice) especially for personal tutors.
- Accessibility of campus spaces (current and future buildings).
- Ensuring students receive adequate support from personal tutors for mitigating circumstances and improve the reasonable adjustments policy
- Begin to look at increasing available study spaces for all students.
- Diversity & Decolonization: Work with Decol Advocates on large campaigns (eg decol week), work with Library (EDI funding bids) to continue work on decolonising the curriculum.
- Student engagement and SSLCs: improving structure and effectiveness of SSLCs.
- Improve communications with faculty reps and course reps, and get them involved with other SU campaigns.
- Work with SSLCs to ensure all departments keep self-certifications in place.
- Continue work on Lecture Capture and support SSLCs in getting their departments to implement/keep it.
