Peak District

Warwick University Climbing Clubs annual freshers trip to the peak district.

CCCLLLIIIMMMBBBEEERRRSSS!

It's time for our annual freshers trip! Each year we head to the peak district to get you all climbing outdoors! If you've never climbed outside before, then this is a perfect opportunity to see what its like!

When? At the end of week 9, from the 29th of November to the 1st of December.

Where? The peak district. We will be staying at Thorpe Farm Bunkhouse.

What will I need? This trip is focused on top rope and bouldering, so you are required to be competent in top rope climbing in order to attend. You will therefore need to bring climbing shoes (obviously), chalk, a harness, a belay device, and a helmet (mandatory). Other things you will need include a sleeping bag, and lots of warm layers!

Helmets can be borrowed from the club for a £30 deposit.

You will also need BMC membership in order to come on this trip, however these memberships can be claimed back through the club at the end of the year.

If you are able to drive, please let us know, and make sure you are in the WUCC drivers groupchat on Whatsapp for all the relevant information. If you are able to drive, you will be able to purchase a cheaper ticket.

We will provide food on the Saturday evening in a big group meal (more info on this to come), but all other food you will be required to provide for yourself (we will stop at tesco on the way).

Warwick University Climbing Club is not affiliated with the BMC but we agree with their participation statement:

"The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions."
