Warwick Africa Summit

Our 2018 Summit will be focussed on ‘Ubuntu - Integrating Africa’. Ubuntu, a Nguni Bantu term with roots in African humanist philosophy, means “I am what I am because of who we all are”, and manifests itself in many aspects of humanity, most visibly in social, political, economic and humanitarian situations. With this in mind, Warwick Africa Summit will aim to explore the potential Africa can unlock when it is united, and works for the greater good of the continent as a whole. We will be adopting an all-encompassing approach, exploring new and inspirational ways to tackle challenges that have hindered Africa’s progress past and present, as well as how we can enter a more unified and dynamic future.

The summit presents a platform to address the different difficulties faced by the continent through the multi-disciplinary keynote speeches and panels of Human and Economic Development, Inovation, Governance, and, Culture and History. We aim to generate engagement, innovation and collaboration between students, academics and practitioners as well as raise awareness of a continent, which is not always understood.

Our speakers range from politicians, bankers, entrepreneurs, activists to philanthropist who have dedicated their lives to unlocking the Continent’s true potential. Join us on January 27th and 28th as we put Africa into focus for the first time at the University of Warwick.

This event is sponsored by Go Global, Warwick's Politics and International Studies Department, Warwick's Economics Department, Citi Bank, Warwick Manufacturing Group, TechiToll Solutions, Youexcell, Warwick in Africa and will be co-hosted by the Warwick International Development Society and Warwick Emerging Market Society.
