Come see Pretty Woman presented on 35mm film on the big screen in L3!
Think back and try to remember a film which combines wit, charm, and that all-important feel-good factor into just under two hours. No, we're not talking about Jade, but that tear-jerking Cinderella update Pretty Woman: a classic romantic comedy guaranteed to grab every heart-string and give it a quick yank.
Richard Gere, a ruthless and cold-hearted businessman, stumbles across Julia Roberts, the prostitute with a heart of gold (notice there are no clichés here) whilst lost and in need of directions. Quickly discovering that she knows more about his gear-stick than he does, (and the Editor is not allowed to put a smutty joke in here), Ricky decides to here her as his escort for the weekend - with pocket money for buying clothes and accessories thrown in. Not a bad deal, but both of them get more than they bargained for as they engage on a Disney-produced journey with the destination of True-love city.
My cynicism aside, this is an outstanding example of the slushy romance, with appealing characters (whom you really care about), a profusion of wonderful comic moments and a genuine chemistry between the two sex-symbol stars. A sweet-natured, enjoyable bread from that stressful week on campus, Pretty Woman also boasts a great soundtrack, with some sort of tie-in song by Roy Orbison and even a ballad by Swedish hipsters Roxette! Don't miss this opportunity to experience all this in the full-sized glory of the big-screen.
