L3

Come see Death of a Unicorn presented with stunning 4K laser projection on the big screen in L3!

At the time of writing this review, Death of a Unicorn still awaits its UK release, and with that being said, I am waiting in extreme anticipation. Here’s why this film is a summer must-see:

The first inviting factor of this movie is its cast, featuring Jenna Ortega, Paul Rudd, Richard E. Grant, and the ‘actor with the eyebrows’ (Will Poulter, of course!). Death of a Unicorn is yet another blockbuster under Jenna Ortega’s belt after rising to international fame levels in late 2022. Following her performance in Netflix show Wednesday, Ortega has hit our screens in other star-powered, high profile works from the horror franchise Scream to erotic thriller Miller’s Girl. Undoubtedly, her performance in this horror comedy is set to be entertaining, to say the least, and a perfect unwind for mid-exam season. The second selling point for this film is its original plot. Aren’t you bored of exhausted remakes, unnecessary live-actions, and tired sequels? I sure am. It’s refreshing to see a fresh story grace our screens, and that's why I constantly place my loyalty and trust in A24. The story follows our main characters seemingly crash into a baby unicorn and then be pursued by its angry parents. The trailer is a display of wit and humour, line after line, with flakes from the Unicorn’s horn being the missing ingredient for a cancer cure, of course. Satirical, energising, and fresh, Death of a Unicorn is a Friday night unmissable! [Holly Beaumont]
