This week we are saying a sad farewell to two members of the Full-time Officer team, who have both accepted permanent job offers away from Warwick.
This week we are saying a sad farewell to two members of the Full-time Officer team, who have both accepted permanent job offers away from Warwick.
Megan Clarke (Education Officer) and Charlotte Lloyd (Sports Officer) have both achieved some great SU wins on behalf of Warwick students, including:
(for Megan)
- Ensuring that the evidential barriers for mitigating circumstances were reduced, and that new options were included on the potential list of situations
- Pushing for more effective training of Campus Security and Wellbeing Services to ensure that the support they give is culturally competent
- Organising and working closely with the Warwick Rent Strike to ensure their demands were met and rent refunds were offered to both on and off campus students
- Fighting for the continuation of self-certification - two assignment extensions per year with no evidence
- Winning more study space in Leamington and ensuring more is opened around campus this term
(for Charlotte)
- Introducing disability sport to Varsity
- Re-writing the BUCS trans inclusion policy with BUCS and Stonewall
- Creating the Club Hardship Fund
- Creating the Sports Officer Fund for WP students
- Leading on the Reshaping Sport campaign to make sport more inclusive and accessible
- Working as the BUCS Inclusion Officer and Chair of West Midlands
- Ensuring plastic-free sustainable packaging for all sports club kit
Megan said:
"After four years at Warwick and a busy year at Warwick SU I am saying goodbye to the role of Education Officer earlier than planned after receiving an exciting job opportunity in an organisation that I am passionate about. It has been a pleasure to work with every student that I've met this year and fight for the support we needed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. I look forward to seeing what Isabelle achieves in what will hopefully be a more normal academic year next year."
And from Charlotte:
“It’s been an absolute honour to represent Team Warwick as your Sports Officer for the past two years – from the highs of winning the 30th annual Varsity to the lows of navigating sport in a covid-world, it’s been challenging at times, but I wouldn’t have replaced this experience for anything. I think everyone involved in sport at university can agree it defines your university experience, and I’m very thankful that I got to continue that involvement beyond 3 years of playing, and have had the opportunity to work alongside some amazing staff and students who are all so passionate about making university sport a better place to be. A massive ‘good luck’ to my successor, Will, who starts in August – congrats on landing the best job going. See you all on the POP dancefloor at the end of June. Char x”
The last day of work at the SU for both Megan and Charlotte will be Friday 14th May, and everyone here wishes them the very best of luck for whatever the future holds.
From next week until their replacements start in August, please use the contact details below as alternatives for Megan and Charlotte.
