The Students’ Union is delighted to announce that we’ll be making significant reductions to the cost of joining our clubs and societies for 2024/25.

From 1st September (when new memberships for 24/25 begin) the price of the Sports Federation fee will be reduced by 25% to make it £24.

In addition, the Societies Federation fee will be reduced by at 20%, bringing it down from:

  • £20 to £16 for undergraduates

  • £10 to £8 for postgraduates

  • £8 to £6 (actually 25%) for Erasmus

Those of you who have bought multi-year Societies Federation memberships, which are still active going into next year, will be eligible for a partial reimbursement of between £0.15 and £2.20. Please bear with us, and more information will be sent to all society members soon.

The SU Board of Trustees have agreed that a further reduction and (if possible) removal of these fees is an aspiration for the future, and a review will be undertaken to see how this may be achieved. Doing it for the 24/25 academic year would have resulted in either cutting the grant money available for societies to bid for or risking a detrimental impact on other crucial SU services.
