The Project Fund is for exactly that – projects. There are no hard and fast rules as to what the Project Fund can be used for, but it should further the aims of the Union in some way. It is normally for something that wasn’t budgeted for last year, so it is either a new idea, or as a result of policy passed instructing the Union to do something. It is important to note, however, that the fund is NOT exclusively a fund for representation. Student Council should consider giving money to any project which furthers the aims of the organisation.
The Project Fund cannot be used to spend money on things that do not affect students as students. It also cannot be used to make donations to outside bodies, or to pay for food and drink or socials. These are just restrictions placed on us by the Law and the University. However, it is also not really for Sports Clubs or Society equipment or training, both Warwick Sport and Societies Federation have Emergency Bid Funds, which should be used in the first instance. However, if your Club or Society has an innovative project or event that needs supporting, then your cause may well be eligible for money from the Project Fund.
Project Fund bids must be submitted a minimum of seven days prior to the Student Council meeting. Dates of the meetings can be obtained from Democratic Services, Student Resources Room, (Level 2, Warwick SUHQ). The Steering Group to Student Council will ensure that any application is legal and financially viable. The proposer of the bid will be invited to attend the Steering meeting to agree the final submission to Student Council.
If you have any questions about how to go about making your Project Fund Bid, please feel free to speak to the Democracy and Development Officer either by going to their office or by emailing on democracy@warwicksu.com
