What is Warwick Esports?

Warwick Esports is the home of everything gaming at the University of Warwick! We are one of the best university esports societies in the UK, with a dominant history in the university scene and are the back-to-back-to-back(-to-back-to-back) Esports University of the Year.

The society aims to bring people together who enjoy playing games, watching esports as a spectator, or those who are completely new to games and are looking for a friendly atmosphere to learn in. We want to give you the best experience possible with your time here and cater to all kinds of players, whether competitive, casual or in between.

Our Mission

Community Experience
Our priority is your experience. We want to make sure you enjoy your time here as much as possible, whether it’s chill gaming, competitive university matches, casting games or anything else. We will have something for everyone, with events ranging from casual to competitive, and everything in between! We welcome and want to encourage participation from players of all genders, backgrounds and ethnicities.

Pushing limits
Not only do we want to push the boundary of what is possible as a university esports society, we also want to grow university esports’ position within the wider esports scene. We also want to educate and inform as many people as possible about what esports and university esports is - there is no point in being the best at something that nobody has heard of or understands.

Legacy and Reputation
We want the reputation of Warwick Esports to be one of excellence, sportsmanship and fair play and to have these values shine through in every area we are involved in. We want our community to understand the legacy of those who have come before, and to aim to surpass this and make their own contributions to this legacy.

Stepping stone / Grassroots Opportunities
With a fresh cohort of students arriving every year, grassroots talent will always be an integral part of us succeeding as a society, so we are always looking to invest in and give opportunities to our members. We want to serve as a stepping stone into industry and help people who want to get more involved in esports. We’ll support you whether you want to get into casting, streaming, production, video editing, coaching, esports journalism or anything else!

Our Events

Socials/Events

Throughout the year we host a range of different socials/events, both in and out of campus, and online/offline.

Some major events we've held in the past include:

  • Warwick Efest - a 5-day 24-hour internet café on campus with tournaments run each day, a 24-hour livestream for charity, and talks from professionals in esports.
  • 2019 LoL World Finals - 17 of our members attended the World Finals in Paris, travelling together, staying in the same accommodation, and exploring the city!

Our smaller and more consistent events include:

  • LAN Parties (24-hour LANs, weekend LANs)
  • In-House Games / Tournaments (usually with prizes up for grabs!)
  • Circles - you’ll start hearing the term ‘circling’ within a few days of being a fresher. Circling is basically Warwick’s society pre-drinks, where societies sit, well, in a circle, and play drinking games with Purple (Snakebite).
  • Society Meals
  • Quiz Nights
  • Sports Sunday - Every Sunday we organise for a group of society members to go out and play some real sports!

Upcoming Events

Check our FacebookTwitterInstagram, our Discord servers (above) or the panel at the bottom of this page to keep up with the latest details of all of our events.

Competitive Play

Our society also represents the University of Warwick for multiple esports titles in the National Student Esports (NSE) and National University Esports League (NUEL) university leagues.

You don't have to be in the top 0.01% to compete! You can form a team with your friends and still contribute to our overall points in each respective league.

For those who want to represent our university at the highest level, we hold trials for each of our top teams, so keep your eyes peeled for when they run!
