The University of Warwick Rock Society is a society for all lovers of rock and metal music, be it heavy metal to alternative rock, classic rock to pop punk, or even noise. We welcome undergraduates and postgraduates alike, so don't be shy!
We're also the inaugural and repeated winners of the Warwick Rocksoc Award For Outstanding Societies Called Warwick RockSoc, which isn't to be sniffed at.
The society is a chance for people with similar interests to meet up and have a chat and you're always bound to find a gig buddy if you have no one to see your favourite band with. Black clothing, tattoos and lots of piercings are not mandatory, so don't be afraid to seek us out even if it's half way through the academic year.
We hold a whole range of socials throughout the year, such as:
- Live music events - often with Coventry RockSoc at the Arches, our local venue
- Club nights - 'POP' and 'Loud & Proud' in the SU Copper Rooms, 'Emo Night' at the Arches/HMV Empire, as well as ocassional trips to Uprawr in Birmingham
- Festivals
- Pub crawls
- House parties
- BBQs whenever the weather is good (and occasionally in the middle of winter)
We also host our notorious RockSoc & affiliated karaoke every term! It is a night not to miss, and one which is usually organised with other music societies here at Warwick. Beyond karaoke we also frequently collaborate with Offbeat, and go to a lot of BandSoc events to support the many musicians here at Warwick.
Twice a year we host our own club night, called Mayhem, where the music is chosen by our members. This is accompanied by pre-drinks which includes non-compulsory circling and great banter.
We organise trips to gigs, both in the local area and further afield to Birmingham. Download and Bloodstock festivals are also not to be missed every summer, which we usually go to as a group.
If you want to keep up to date with everything we do, then please follow our Instagram and Facebook accounts, and join the Discord server if you'd like to get to know us and get involved! We also encourage buying a membership to our society if you can, as it'd help us to keep running our great events.
