Welcome to the Rubik's Cube Society!
We're a tight-knit, inclusive society looking to introduce new-comers to the cube and its community, as well as sharing knowledge with eachother, or even just to chat.
What we do:
Our goal is get more people interested in the world of speedcubing and twisty-puzzle solving, like the Rubik's Cube!
Speedcubing is the act of solving twisty puzzles as fast as possible. People compete around the world in speedcubing competitions, as well as some of this societies members, and we want to share the joy that is speedcubing.
We have beginners sessions to teach people how to solve the original Rubik's Cube, which only requires a few simple steps! No need to bring your own cube, we can offer to lend our society owned cubes to any society members. If you wish to progress, we can offer to teach other puzzles and more advanced methods to improve your times.
We run weekly meet-ups where members can socialise, share tips, and discuss the latest topics in cubing. Anyone can attend, and are always free to ask for advice or to learn a new puzzle from one of our friendly execs.
Once a term we run an in-house competition! Our competitions are ran the same as official WCA competitions are ran, offering our members to experience competing for free. Although it is a competition, anyone can join regardless of your speed. Competitions are not about 'winners' or 'losers', but about improving your own times and beating your own personal goals. Everyone's accomplishments are worthy of celebrating!
Cubing League
The Cubing League offers a way for cubers from universities across the UK to compete against each other in weekly events. Every fortnight, anyone can perform solves to be inputted to the Cubing League database. Your results can then be compared to others from different universities, and see how you rank in the UK! It's great for making new friends from other universities, and we even get together with other university societies in person!
