Welcome to Warwick AI!
Warwick Artificial Intelligence is a student-run society that provides students with the opportunity to learn and use various emerging technologies in the field of Artificial Intelligence!
We welcome anyone from any background with no prior experience in machine learning or AI required... we'll teach you all you need to know! We run various courses, Projects where you can learn to implement AI, and Research Projects for those interested in theory alongside events in AI Safety. We also run various socials throughout the year so there is always plenty to do! If you’re interested in what we do, the best way to get involved is by coming to our weekly CodeNight events! Feel free to approach any of us to ask questions about the society or Artificial Intelligence in general.
How to Join
Warwick AI is free to join so you'll only need the Societies Federation (which can be bought below) to join the society as an official member. As an official member, you will receive society emails with details of events and opportunities in the society and externally, and you will be able to sign up for projects and research! Our Events
Summit
This year Warwick AI will be running our first ever Artificial Intelligence Summit at Warwick! Over a weekend in term 2 we will be hosting talks from industry speakers, workshops, competitions and much more! More details will follow through our email, Discord and Instragram so join the society to make sure you don't miss out!
CodeNights
Each week we will run a casual CodeNight session where you can meet with others, enjoy some snacks, and collaborate on projects/research together! This is a great place to meet new people and explore AI in an easy setting. We will also sometimes run short talks and tutorials in these sessions so make sure you don't miss those!
Courses
Warwick AI run a variety of courses throughout the year. This year we will run an Introduction to Python course with UWCS and CodeSoc as well as various courses on the basics of artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, and reinforcement learning!
Projects
Throughout the year, we run various projects where students work together to solve a problem using AI technology. In the past, students have created a Gesture Controlled Drone, made a walking robot cat, and have developed a Chat-bot based Language Learning App. This is a great opportunity to use your AI skills in a practical setting to keep an eye out for sign-ups!
Research
Members of Warwick AI are invited to take part in research with the society! As a researcher, you will choose a topic of AI or machine learning to research and then work with our Head of Research to produce an article for our blog! We welcome all kinds of topics, from the deeply theoretical to investigating the social implications of AI technologies, so if you're passionate about spreading the word of AI then consider signing up!
AI Safety
Warwick AI will be running a discussion group in collaboration with Effective Altruism at Warwick to investiage AI Safety, particularly looking at the present and future consquences that AI technology may have on the world! This is a really current issue so if you are interested in how AI might change the world (for better or for worse) then definitely sign up for the AI Safety events!
Socials
We organise a variety of social events, ranging from casual pub meals to collaborative socials with other societies. All the events are inclusive and suitable for both drinkers and non-drinkers. It’s a great way to bond with people from the society, take a break from your studies, and simply have a good time!
