Table Tennis Sports Club

Warwick Table Tennis Club is a friendly sports club for players of all abilities to have fun and advance their game. Whether you are a social player or a member of the women's or men's team, we have a lot to offer. For beginners/intermediates we provide both casual club sessions, a chance to experience coaching on Tuesday afternoons, and match play in the Active League and Leamington League. For advanced players, we provide advanced coaching and a chance to play in BUCS teams and in the West Midlands League.

Club Session Times

All sessions are held in Westwood Games Hall.  All of our sessions are free for members and everyone is welcome but you must book on through the Warwick Sport website first.

  • Monday 20:30 - 22:00 Club Session
  • Tuesday 08:00 - 10:00 Club Session
  • Friday 10:00 - 12:00 Club Session
  • Friday 15:00 - 17:00 Club Session

If you are part of our BUCS Teams (1 and 2) or our Non-BUCS Teams (Teams 3-6) then we have dedicated training sessions with coaching and drills, including from an external coach for our BUCS Teams. The times for these sessions will be relayed to you following your successful entry into the teams.

The club is only open during term time.

Team

The club has two women's teams and two men’s teams in the BUCS Leagues. Team trials are held at the beginning of the academic year, but movement into the squad is possible for any member who demonstrates commitment and ability, as judged by the Team Captains. There will also be room for a Development Squad, which will bridge the gap between team and non-team by allowing cross-training and monitoring of their progress to determine whether they should be added to the team. They will also be encouraged to play in the local Leamington league.

If chosen for the BUCS team squad, you will be provided additional training and the opportunity to represent the University in inter-university tournaments and matches.

West Midlands League

WTTC is competing in the inaugural West Midlands Table Tennis League this year, featuring teams from other Universities around the West Midlands. This will be available for Development Squad players as a great opportunity to play competitive table tennis matches.

Local Leamington League

In addition to the BUCS and West Midlands League teams, WTTC has a mixed team in the Leamington Table Tennis League. Opponents in the local area have a large range of styles, making these matches an excellent opportunity to improve. Please contact us via Instagram or WhatsApp for more information.

Active Table Tennis League

WTTC and Warwick Sport are teaming up this year to provide a table tennis league open to everyone for all abilities. Make a team with your friends and enter into a league to play other student teams from within the University. This will be on Sundays 20:00-22:00 in the Sports Hub Zone A, starting from Week 3 of Term 1.

Socials

We hold a wide range of socials open to everyone regardless of skill level. To many of our members, the club is a vital part of social life at Warwick. It is our socials that create a friendly and inclusive environment whilst serving the role of building team spirit and raising morale.

Here are some of the socials that we have done recently or will be doing this year, including sober socials:

• Games Night during welcome week

• Go-Karting

• Laser Quest

• Club Meals

• Paintballing

• Escape Room

For when the sun goes down, Warwick Table Tennis has amazing nightlife on campus from our legendary themed Circles and Pop to Skooldayz parties to our regular failures to win the weekly Dirty Duck pub quiz. There is something for everyone at Warwick Table Tennis and we look forward to seeing you in the new academic year.

Please consult our Instagram page for details of how you can get involved! We also regularly update our WhatsApp chat with reminders of when all of our sessions and socials are so you never miss out!

Tournaments

If you fancy a challenge, we run a range of regular tournaments, which are open to all members. These range from regular singles tournaments to doubles tournaments to handicap tournaments, so there is something for everyone.

Equipment

We can provide all equipment including beginner bats. If you want to buy your own please speak to an exec member who can provide you with the club’s recommendations.

We recommend wearing a sports shirt and shorts/skirts, though normal clothes are fine. Please avoid wearing white/light coloured clothing, however! Any non-marking trainers or shoes are perfect, as we play indoors.

There are women's and men's changing rooms on the ground floor at both the main Sports Hub and Westwood Games Hall.

Other Sports

The club takes part in lots of other sports events. We compete in the annual Racketlon (squash, tennis, badminton, table tennis) event, and have also entered teams into netball, football, badminton and rounders tournaments previously.

The club also has its very own 5-aside football team and we plan to do skillswaps each term with other sports clubs.

For any further information, please DM us on Instagram or message us on WhatsApp. All of our exec are also happy to help with any questions you may have.
