This workshop will be in two parts:
The first part will be a Q&A with Jacob and John, both Warwick alumni whose success in the industry makes them a fantastic audience for questions from those hoping to go the same route. This is open to both performers and production team members, as Jacob and John have valuable knowledge about both aspects. The second part is an audition workshop, where participants can perform an audition piece to Jacob and John and receive professional feedback on how to improve themselves for future auditions! This second part is open only to those who are willing to participate, so please only sign up if you yourself are willing to take part.
The professional bios of Jacob and John can be found below:
A Warwick alum, Jacob found himself heavily involved in the Warwick Drama Scene, at one point being Productions Manager for MTW, the DC and OpWa all at the same time (would not recommend!). After graduating with a degree in Liberal Arts, whilst working in the social sector, Jacob trained on the Casting Society of America’s prestigious CSC Casting Training & Education Programme. He then gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Casting from the National Film and Television School. Jacob started in the industry working at various casting offices, including Theatre Casting Director Ginny Schiller (Various West End and National UK Tours) and TV/Film Casting Directors Kelly Valentine Hendry (Bridgerton, Rivals) and Rob Kelly (Geek Girl, Malory Towers). Jacob then moved over to the world of agenting, working with many top agents across London. After working with Creative Artists Management (CAM) and Milburn Browning Associates, Jacob found his current home at high end talent agency The Artists Partnership (https://theartistspartnership.co.uk/).
John graduated from Warwick in 2021 with a degree in History. Outside of his degree John was heavily involved in the theatre scene at Warwick. He was a member of the MTW exec and MDed a number of productions, including the first spotlight slot, Songs For A New World, as well as playing in the band for others. After leaving Warwick, John moved to Glasgow for two years to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he gained both a PGDip and an MA in Musical Direction. Whilst in Scotland, John was also fortunate to MD productions across two seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. After graduating from the RCS, John briefly worked as a freelance MD and accompanist before joining the premiere ATG tour of I Should Be So Lucky. Initially asked to join as MD for a short 6 week period, this became remaining with the tour for 6 months, taking it around the UK before finishing in Dublin. Since the end of the tour John has continued to work as an MD, rehearsal pianist and rep coach. He has worked across a number of drama schools; on productions including HERE & NOW - The Steps Musical and the European tour of Fame; and has dep-ed as a keys player on productions including Two Strangers (Carry A Cake Across New York) in the West End and most recently continues to dep on the UK & Ireland tour of &Juliet.
