Director Peter Sohn draws inspiration from his own past growing up in New York City as the son of Korean immigrants, and his experiences of prejudice whilst growing up in an area of strong ethnic and cultural diversity all act as key themes of the film. The story follows Ember (Leah Lewis), a fire element, and Wade (Mamoudou Athie), a water element, as they attempt to save Ember’s parents' store. The film draws inspiration from classic romance films, and is a heartwarming watch which will have you leaving the cinema smiling! [James Patt]
