Warwick Student Cinema: Raging Bull (35mm) - Early

Event from Warwick Student Cinema

Saturday 09 November 2024, 6.30PM - Saturday 09 November 2024, 8.30PM

L3

Come see Raging Bull presented on 35mm film on the big screen in L3!

Martin Scorsese has never found sports fascinating, and he has no interest in boxing. But for him, Jake LaMotta’s (De Niro) story in Raging Bull is never about boxing. It is about life, and how boxing can be “an allegory for whatever you do in life.” It explores LaMotta as an underdog who never wins, and whose violence, driven by paranoia, ends up leading to his downfall in and outside of the ring. It is also a particularly important film for Scorsese, as it ended up saving his filmmaking career. De Niro delivers a stellar performance alongside Joe Pesci and Carthy Moriarty, both of whom received widespread recognition after the release, and the outstanding black and white cinematography makes this the perfect film to watch at WSC!
