Come see Amadeus presented on 70mm film on the big screen in L3!

Amadeus may bear the name of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, but it is far from a historically accurate portrayal of the composer’s life. Instead, it is a masterfully fictionalised exploration of the rivalry between Mozart (Tom Hulce) and Antonio Salieri (F. Murray Abraham), set against the grandeur of the Austrian court. Directed by Miloš Forman, the film captures Salieri’s tortured psyche as he grapples for musical immortality while Mozart saunters into it — despite living a life of reckless indulgence. This intricate interplay of jealousy, ambition, and despair ends in a tragedy that leaves no true victor.

To capture the meticulous genius of these two maestros, alongside the pomp of the ridiculous world they inhabit, with such incredible storytelling is a rare cinematic achievement that cannot be replicated. With its 8 Academy Award wins, including Best Picture, Director, and Actor, Amadeus remains one of the most critically acclaimed films to come out of Hollywood. It also features some of the best and most celebrated music the world has ever heard.
