Welcome to Culture Week!

Culture Week runs from Monday 29th April to Friday 3rd May with an exciting programme of events to celebrate the diverse & rich culture of our students at the University of Warwick

Get involved with these events throughout the week and celebrate with A2Z, a free cultural celebration evening,  in the Copper Rooms with Afrobeats and Reggeaton music, photobooth, and more!

Culture Week Programme

Mehndi Design Workshop - Tuesday 30th April | 12:30-2:30pm | Kevin Gately Meeting Room delivered by SU Projects & Campaigns Team

Ever wanted to try doing your own Mehndi design? Come along to this workshop to create a beautiful mehndi design using dark brown mehndi cones and temporary stencils. To use the henna dye, you MUST complete this Informed Consent Form first  

If you do not wish to use the dye on your skin, we offer an option to draw your own Mehndi designs / Diwali colouring in sheets!

Salsa Class & Social - SuperbSalsa - Tuesday 30th April | 8pm till late | The Yard, Coventry 

Join the amazing SuperbSalsa Team at The Yard (The LGBTQIA+ Bar in Coventry) for an evening of salsa dancing! There is an energetic warm up, followed by either a beginner, intemediate, or advanced class depending on your salsa experience. Followed by social dancing which transports you to the streets of Havana, Cuba with classic Salsa and Buchata tunes throughout the night!

Steel Pan Workshop - CCS - Wednesday 1 May | 2-4pm | Copper Rooms 2

A Caribbean steel pan workshop offering hands-on experience in the vibrant tradition of steel pan music. Led by experienced instructors, participants learn about the instrument's history, technique, and ensemble playing, exploring various Caribbean music styles. Suitable for all skill levels, the workshop fosters cultural appreciation and leaves participants with new skills and a deeper connection to Caribbean music.

A2Z - Friday 3rd May | 9pm till 2am | Copper Rooms & Terrace Bar

Join us for a FREE-entry cultural celebration evening with The Copper Rooms and Terrace Bar playing music from various cultures and geographic locations to parallel the diversity of the student body such as Afrobeats, Dancehall, Fushion and Reggaeton to name a few, an awesome photobooth to capture memories with your friends, and much more!

The African Caribbean Society (ACS) are hosting an amazing selection of events during Culture Week including a Football Tournament, Games Night, Open Mic in collaboration with BrownSpace, and an International Food Fair.
